my education

1984-1988, COBOL Programming, Systems Technology Institute (Gil Puyat Avenue, Makati City)
After my graduation from college, I studied COBOL Programming at the Systems Technology Institute (now STI College). STI was one of the first IT schools in the Philippines. My training there was extensive. My training was divided into 3 modules: micro COBOL, mini COBOL, and macro COBOL (mainframes). All of my instructors were IT professionals currently working at different companies. For that reason, I learned programming the way it was practically applied in business. The very first computers we used were called Apple II; that's where we would load our COBOL programs.

1979-1983, Bachelor in Accountancy, Polytechnic University of the Philippines (Sta. Mesa, Manila)
I chose accounting by default; meaning, it was one of the few courses opened at the university at a late enrolling time. I had no ambition at that time. All I wanted was to work in an office so that I could help my mother financially.

My grade average was 1.96 (85%-87%)

1975-1979, High School, Malate Catholic School
My high school was a bad experience. It was my adolescent period that I realized my father died 4 years ago. It was in this period when I was sexually molested the first time by an old man (but I have redeemed myself :-). This is the period, however, I learned to really study and enjoyed the books I had.

1968-1974, Elementary, St. Paul School Makati (former Makati Catholic School)
My elementary school was a sad experience. Being poor, I had no books. I relied mainly on my notes, which were very few. Not at all times that I got to take the periodic exams due to unpaid tuition fees. As a result, my grades were very low. The highest grade I could earn was 78; I'd be lucky to get 79 or 80. My social, emotional, psychological, and physical formation years were not that healthy. Spiritually, however, my formation was enough.

In my sixth grade, I was diagnosed with rheumatic heart disease that caused me to stop schooling for one year.

1968, Grade One, Generosa de Leon Memorial School (Paranaque)
This is where I first studied but I was not able to complete my first grade because my sisters who were teachers in that school moved to another school. (Nora Aunor was in her high school then at the same school.) I continued my first grade at Makati Catholic School.

I had no kindergarten schooling. On my supposedly first day in kindergarten school, I backed out. With no questions asked, my father simply sent me back home. Without a preschool background, my reading skill was poor which to my classmates' delight, found a way to ridicule me.
